Amber and Mahogany colors for  Exotic Hardwoods.

Mahogany is the go to choice for Exotic Hardwoods such as IPE and has shown better color retention than any other Exotic Hardwood Stain!

Armstrong's deck and siding wood stain has nondrying conditioning oils that separate from the drying side of the formula. These oils penetrate deep into the deck or siding wood fiber where the wood's natural oils used to be. This process rejuvenates the wood. The drying oils stay at the surface, lock in the conditioning oils and create a dry to the touch barrier. Armstrong's deck and siding wood stain formulas also contain vegetable oils, transparent oxide pigments, water repellents, mildewcide and solvent.

Quality is what Armstrong-Clark brings to you. Backed by five generations of oil based coatings experience, coupled with modern technology, Armstrong-Clark can meet and exceed your need for oil based wood coatings.

  • Can be applied in direct sunlight and heat of day. If the first coat penetrates within 30 minutes a second coat can be applied for extra protection.
  • Easily applied by brush, roller, garden sprayer or airless spray equipment.
When spraying - back-rolling or brushing will help even out appearance. If there are any puddles or glossy spots after 24 hours, remove with dry rag.
  • Non-drying oils penetrate deep to recondition older wood.
  • Drying oils, pigments and water repellents protect against water and UV damage and lock in the nondrying oils.
  • Complies with all government environmental standards.
  • No offensive odor.

Armstrong-Clark Wood Deck Stain applies at about 150-200 feet per gallon. Actual coverage varies depending on wood porosity.

I have a Mahogany deck but I’m torn on which stain to use. Is it best to stick with the Mahogany Stain since it’s Mahogany wood? Or would that make it really dark?

I need a sample of Armstrong Clark - in Amber and Mahogany tones. Do you sell those?

I have built my Ipe deck 3 years ago. It gets pool water on it during the summer months and snow in the winter.  I recoated a few times and used Messmers oil for hardwoods natural color but I am thinking about trying Armstrong.  What would be the closest match color wise to that?

I have a new IPE deck and stairs just installed this month.  How long do I need to wait before staining? Any prep needed once it's been long enough?  Also, you mention that mahogany is the "go to choice" for IPE.  Any reason that mahogany would be better than black walnut which is a better match for our house color?  Appreciate your help.

I have an 18 month old Ipe deck. It has been through 2 Michigan winters. I’ve applied Ipe oil every 6 months, sanding before each application. The deck is in very good shape. I would like to use Armstrong/Clark mahogany stain for this years application. Can this be done after I’ve already used an oil application? Will I need to do any special prep work?

    Renee:
Hello - We have a 13 year old IPE Deck and stripped, cleaned and now ready to stain. When our deck is wet the color is close to the Mahogany however, when dry close to the amber. Will the Mahogany stain give us the Mahogany color wet and dry? Thank you for your time - Renee

Best to get some samples to test:

Hi there, Just tried your stain after seeing it firsthand on our daughter's deck and listening to her reviews about your terrific product. We just used on our deck and are extremely pleased also. Still have the rail to stain and are considering using on our logs, on log home. Anyway, what my question to you is as follows :
I noticed that our stain was shipped from Bloomfield in Michigan and I am wondering if this location is strictly a shipping depot for your company or are you able to purchase from there ? We are from Ontario, Canada and at the end of the month we will be travelling to Tennessee for holidays and cross over at Port Huron. We will be in close proximity to Bloomfield, so I am wondering if we would be able to purchase stain from there ? If it operates like a store ? It would save us shipping costs, Thankyou for your time and I will join my daughter in promoting your great product.
    Dave

Yes, but it will look more reddish/orange on pine.

    Hi,

Even though HW Mahogany is made for exotic hardwoods, is it safe to assume that it can be used on any non-exotic hardwoods (e.g. pine, etc.)?

Use a exterior stain pad for applying. Use both a cleaner and wood brightener.

We have had our Brazilian redwood deck for 13 years and have never stained it. From what I gather, I need to clean it first then stain it. Should I get a cleaner and brightener, or just a cleaner? Also, for applying the Armstrong Stain should we use a roller with a long handle ?
    Thank you

    Randy,

    1. you would need to start the checkout process to get an idea as to the fees associated with shipping there.
    2. 4-7 days
    3. yes you can order sample from the site
    4. Try the Restore A Deck Stripper and Brightener. You might need to sand as well.

    Hello,

I currently live near Vancouver BC and am looking to switch from OneTime to another product on our 1000 square foot deck. It currently looks like your pie hardwood stain is a good candidate.
1/ what is the cost to ship 5 gal to Canada?
2/ order time to receipt - how long should I plan for shipping?
3/ sample - do you offer samples so I can test/try to two color options (thinking mahogany)
4/ what is you product recommendation for removing the OneTime? Ideally it's a non corrosive plant friendly product, but effectiveness is key

    Thanks,
    Randy
